Welkom by die Satellite Solutions webblad. Ons aanvaar jy is op soek na 'n spesialis DStv-; Top TV- en/of HDMi installeerder met genoeg integriteit om by sy kwotasie te hou sonder nare verrassings, asook die kennis om jou wildste verwagtinge te oortref?
Op hierdie webblad noem ons 'n graaf, 'n graaf en 'n leunaar 'n leunaar, ongeag wie hulle verteenwoordig. Ons glo nie in verkoops praatjies nie, omdat ons reputasie meer werd is as oneerlikheid en ons dit graag so wil hou aangesien 90% van ons verkope op verwysings van tevrede kli—nte afkomstig is.

Ons is nie net DStv geakkrediteerde installeerders nie, ons is ook Top TV geakkrediteer en die enigste installeerders in Suid Afrika wat deur die T.S.P.A. (Technical Service Providers Association) aanbeveel word. Ons is ook die enigste erkende tegnikus opleidings fasiliteit , wat deur all hierdie organisasies goedgekeur en erken word!
WAARSKUWING - Wat jy behoort te weet
Moet my nie verkeerd verstaan nie, daar is 'n hele paar installeerders wat buitengewone werk doen, maar ongelukkig
ervaar ons 'n oorgrote meerderheid wie se werk nie op standaard is nie en in meeste gevalle is swak kwaliteit toerusting aan niksvermoedende kli—nte verskaf, wat betaal het vir kwaliteit produkte.
Een van die grootste probleme wat ons teekom is onvoldoende skottels en swak kwaliteit kabel.
Sedert ho— definisie televisie in August 2008 bekend gestel is, het ons as Multichoice Geakkrediteerde installeerders, geweier om HD sisteme te installeer met skottels kleiner as 80cm.
Dit het natuurlik daartoe gelei dat ons oorspronklik 'n aansienlike hoeveelheid HD verkope teenoor opposissie maatskappye verloor het wat destyds en selfs vandag nog berid is om instelassies te doen met selfs 55cm skottels en swak kwaliteit kabel.
Wat ons egter dronkslaan (en glo my dat ons op verskeie geleenthede hierdie onderwerp met al die besluitnemers bespreek het), is die hoeveelheid "Vouchers" wat deur ketting winkels, teen belaglike pryse, aan niksvermoedende persone verkoop word.
Met alle respek, kan die meederheid van die verkoops persone wat aangestel word om hierdie verkope te behartig, nie eers "signal attenuation" behoorlik uitspreek nie, nietemin vir jou verduidelik hoe om dit te verminder.
Laat ons toe om te verduidelik waarom ons dinge op ons manier doen....
DIE WAARHEID - Wat jy moet oorweeg...
Al die sogenaamde dstv promosies en hd pvr "special" koopbewys word verkoop met 'n 60cm staal skottel (wat eintlik 55cm meet in meeste gevalle), alowel Multichoice 'n minimum van 90cm vir enige dstv instelasie aanbeveel. In welke geval betaal jy die verbruiker uit die aard van die saak die groothandel wins, plus die kleinhandel wins, plus die "gamaak in wie weet waar" 3x opgemerkte skottel,
plus die instelasie fooi.
Ja, die bogenoemde was veronderstel om alarms in jou gewete te laat afgaan, maar omdat 'n self erkende "tegnologies gestremde" individu is, vertrou jy op die "spesialis" wat die produk verkoop om die beste oplossing aan te beveel, korrek?
Ongelukkig is die feit dat jy gevang word deur belaglike pryse vir swak produkte te betaal nie jou grootste probleem vandag nie. Sodra jy die "toll vry" (terloops enige nommer wat met 086 begin IS NIE toll vry nie) nommer op jou on you koopbewys skakel, word a sogenaamde ge-akrediteerde installeerder aangestel om jou dstv of hd pvr te installeer.
Die eerste potensieele probleem is dat jou "geakkrediteerde" dstv installeerder nie noodwendig Multichoice / DStv geakkterdieer is nie, maar slegs deur die maatskappy wat die koppbewyse versprei.
Die tweede potensieele probleem is die feit dat jou goedkoop dstv of hd pvr koopbewys slegs voorsiening maak vir 'n 60cm staal satelliet skottel en indien jy in 'n kusgebied woonagtig is, jy werklik nie moet verwag jou skottel moet baie lank hou nie. Dan praat ons nie eers van die $2.00, ingevoerde van China, geen naam LNB nie!
Laastens, is daard die feit dat daar van jou "geakkrediteerde" installeerder verwag word om teen die huidige petrol prys an jou eindom te ry, tot 25m goedkoop kabel, aansluitings en verbruikers goedere te verskaf, plus die salaris van 'n helper te betaal en jou installasie in a rekord tyd te voltooi, sodat hy ten minste 'n klein wins oorhou van die fooi wat hy betaal word vir die werk. Die waarheid is ongelukkig dat jou installeerder glad nie besorg is oor die kwaliteit van die kabel, die akkuraatheid van die belyning of die netheid van die instelasie nie. Sy enigste doel is om in so kort moontlike tyd 'n getekende bewys te kry, sodat hy kan aanbeweeg na sy volgende slagoffer
Indien u werklik daarop aandring om n koopbewys te gebruik, stel ons ten sterkste voor dat u dit van Multichoice / DStv direk verkry. Op die manier is u verseker u dstv ge-akkrediteerde installeerder is werklik geakkrediteer deur DStv / Multichoice en aanspreeklik vir die werk wat gedoen gaan word, wat vir ten minste 3 maande gewaarborg moet word! (Al ons vakmanskap word vir 12 maande gewaarborg).

A common misconception exist about satellite dish sizes. Just because your dish looks simular to your neigbour's, it doesn't mean it really is, trust me!. You see, we recently purchased so-called 60cm dstv satellite dish kit's from the three major supplies and this is what we found...

Although a little more technical, the explanation on Wikipedia is definitely also worth reading to get a better perspective on the subject.
THE TRUTH - About cable...
We sometimes run into a bit of confusion about "RG" numbers--RG-6, RG-59, RG-11, etc.. Here's a little piece (courtesy of www.bluejeanscable.com") to explain just what these are, and what they really mean (or don't mean).
All of the common RG designations apply to various types of coaxial cable. Some people think "coax" or "coaxial" cable means "antenna cable," or "cable with F-connectors," or some such thing, but coax is a much more general classification. Any cable which has two conductors which share a single common axis is a coaxial cable--a center conductor, accompanied by a shield, the two being kept apart by a dielectric and wrapped in an outer jacket. All common video cable types are coaxial cables, though that's harder to see in some than in others--for example, s-video cable typically is two mini-coaxial cables combined either in a common outer jacket or a zip-cord type arrangement.
The origin of the RG designations is in old, long-obsolete military specs; RG stands for "Radio Guide," and the RG numbers are completely arbitrary. Most cables today are referred to as RG-# "type," meaning that they don't strictly conform to the original Radio Guide specifications. The result is that the RG designations are so non-specific that it's not really possible to say how a cable will perform just from knowing its RG number. We see a lot of discussions on message boards and the like where it's asserted that "RG-59 has lower bandwidth than RG-6" or "RG-59 is not as well shielded as RG-6"; statements like that are never really strictly correct. They may be correct as between one particular RG-6 and one particular RG-59, but not between others.
Take RG-6, for example. The only thing one can say generally about RG-6 type coaxes is that they have an 18 AWG center conductor. An RG-6 might be a cheap generic CATV coax, designed strictly for economy, with a thin aluminum braid and a copper-coated steel center conductor; it might be a better-grade CATV coax, with an aluminum "quad shield" arrangement; or it might be a precision serial digital video coax, with a dense copper braid and double-foil shield, solid copper center conductor, nitrogen-injected PE foam dielectric, and extremely broad bandwidth and tight impedance tolerance. When people ask, "can I just use RG-6 for this application," the only correct answer is a question: what do you mean by "RG-6"? High-bandwidth serial digital video and cable TV distribution may both use RG-6 type cable, but that doesn't mean that the cable for one is necessarily suitable for the other.
RG6 only specifies a family of co-ax cables with similar characteristics. Within the family, there are several variations such as the materials used, screening and other characteristics. To select the right cable, there is no alternative to looking at the data sheets supplied by all manufacturers.
Remember that there are quality variations between manufacturers, so if you can't get a data sheet from a supplier, look elsewhere. All of the better quality suppliers will be happy to provide a data sheet. Those who won't give you a data sheet may have something to hide or simply don't know the performance of their own cable.
RG6 quad just means 4 layers insulation vs. the two layers provided with RG6 dual. See the picture below:
What is however more significant, is the percentage coverage or braids provided. When selecting cable, shielding from external sources or interferences is probably the most significant quality to consider.
In addition, it would be wise to consider the difference between pure copper and copper clad center conductors. Although notably cheaper, copper clad will without a doubt corrode over time, even if it is properly sealed. Customers residing in coastal areas, especially those within 1km of the beach, should not even consider copper-clad under any circumstances!
